How to become IAS 2021? Eligibility and full guide

All peoples have dream in life but most of the students wants to clear UPSC because IAS is a very powerful and respected job in India. Most of aspirants want to become IAS but it's not easy UPSC is most toughest paper in India. So you have to work hard and smart to become a IAS.

IAS officers are selected under the Indian Civil Service. It is considered to be India's toughest exam for the job. The IAS officer tops the Indian bureaucracy. Above this, there are only ministers. In India, four top officers are elected under All India Service which includes IAS, IPS, IRS and IFS.

Full Form:

IAS- Indian Adminstrative Service.

IPS- Indian Police Service.

IRS- Internal Revenue Service.

IFS- Indian Foriegn Service.


Those who get the top rank IAS in the Civil Services Examination are selected as IAS. They have the right to run the country responsible. It is necessary for any applicant to be a graduate to take the civil service examination.

Minimum age become IAS:

The minimum age to appear in civil service examination is 21 years, if anyone wants to appear in this examination, then he should prepare it from a young age. Keep in mind that the applicant of the general category can participate in this examination 6 times till the age of 32 years. For this, coaching can be taken along with studies. After tenth, the focus should start on studying civil service exam.

How to study for UPSC?

As UPSC is a toughest exam. You must read newspapers and magazines daily, you will be aware of the current affairs. Also, you will not need much research in preparing for any subject. After the tenth, choose the subject that interests you and which you can choose during the civil service. Being the subject of choice, you will also have ease of preparation. Manage your time. Make a routine of your own and prepare accordingly. Do not waste your time in unnecessary work.

Role of an IAS:

Implementing and following the policies of the government is mainly the work of the IAS. The IAS can be the District Magistrate, Collector or Commissioner in the district. Apart from this, the posts of Cabinet Secretary, Joint Secretary, Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary etc. are also available when the post increases. The top post of bureaucracy in India is that of the Cabinet Secretary who is accountable to the Parliament. Paper Pattern:

First you have to clear prelims and then mains

1. Prelims: It consists of two papers of 200-200 marks. In both the papers, objective type questions (objective type / multiple choice questions) are asked.

Paper I: This paper of 200 marks covers National and International, Current Affairs, Indian History and Indian National Movement, Geography of India and the World, Indian Monarchy and Governance (Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy), Economic and Social Development. (Sustainable Development, Poverty, Population), Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity,

Paper II: This paper of 200 marks asks questions related to comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision making and problem solving, general mental ability, basic generality and data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables).

The time limit for this paper is 2 hours.

2. Main Examination: The Main Examination of Civil Services consists of written examination and interview. There are a total of 9 papers in the written examination, of which two are for qualifying (A and B) and seven for merit.
